Introducing nutraMetrix Isotonix® Astaxanthin

Key Ingredients Found In nutraMetrix Isotonix® Astaxanthin*

Astaxanthin (AstaReal®) 6 mg:
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid that gives the reddish pigment to some algae, salmon, crab, krill and lobster. It is known for its powerful antioxidant effects and has been shown to be a superior free radical quencher when compared to other antioxidants like coenzyme Q10 and green tea. AstaReal®† provides 6 mg of sustainably sourced Astaxanthin from Haematococcus Pluvialis.

Astaxanthin is known to be a powerful antioxidant with an affinity for tissues that have heightened metabolic demand such as cardiac muscle, capillary beds within organs and skeletal muscles requiring sufficient oxygen and energy for their proper performance.

A significant number of human clinical studies demonstrate the efficacy of astaxanthin on cardiovascular health and performance.  Research reveals an impressive link between natural astaxanthin from algae and normal healthy levels of HDL, a form of lipid respected for its cardio-protective benefits. In addition, astaxanthin supports normal vascular tone and performance, making astaxanthin a critical addition for those looking to maintain normal blood pressure as well as those looking to promote physical endurance.

With exercise comes the creation of free radicals.  Specifically, singlet oxygen free radicals.  These radicals are particularly problematic in aging and cellular endurance. Meaning, with age comes a slowing down of our ability to quench these free radicals as fast as they are produced.  Athletes and those that exercise regularly, regardless of age, create these free radicals at a significant rate. Individuals in both groups may benefit from a nutritional intervention of AstaReal® Astaxanthin to meet their metabolic demands.  Using a powerful antioxidant like astaxanthin helps us maintain balance support healthy energy, stamina and cardiovascular health.

In addition to its cardiovascular, metabolic and physical fitness benefits, AstaReal® Astaxanthin supports healthy visual activity. Loss of visual accommodation, the ability to focus on small objects or near objects, is not limited to an aging population. In fact, with digital devices becoming more and more prominent in our lives, it’s becoming more difficult to maintain our ability to properly accommodate.  Over stimulation of our eyes, from the growing number of screen and digital interfaces, can leave our eyes feeling tired.  Such fatigue can impact both visual focus and cognitive attention.  Astaxanthin, because it has dual purpose of protecting the eyes from eye strain while promoting normal blood flow to retinal and surrounding tissue supports the eyes ability to read and use devices for longer periods of time with less eye fatigue. AstaReal® astaxanthin, because of its unique shape, additionally supports the body’s ability to quench free radicals and fight the effects of oxidative stress in the eye.

Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) 7 mg
Vitamin E is actually a family of related compounds called tocopherols and tocotrienols. Vitamin E is available in both naturally occurring and synthetic forms. The naturally occuring form of alpha-tocopherol is known as "d-alpha tocopherol."  While the synthetic form, "dl-" is the most common form found in dietary supplements, nutraMetrix Isotonix® Astaxanthin uses the naturally occurring form because research shows it is better absorbed and retained in the body, making it the better choice for heart health and metabolic well-being.

Vitamin E is one of the most powerful fat-soluble antioxidants in the body, allowing it to protect cell membranes from free radicals. Vitamin E quenches a different type of free radical than astaxanthin or water-soluble antioxidants, which pairs perfectly with Astaxanthin. nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin uses vitamin E and astaxanthin because, not only do these two ingredients enhance each other’s free radical quenching capabilities, they are physiologically similar to the natural components making up our cell membranes.  Together they support stability and health of the cell membrane. Collectively, Vitamin E and Astaxanthin have the unique benefit of supporting the health of the entire cell.

Putting Vitamin E in the nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin offers additional benefits. V Vitamin E and Astaxanthin are supportive of gastro-intestinal barrier health and immune function. Both Vitamin E and Astaxanthin’s contribute to a healthy barrier membrane because of their shape and ability to help fight the effects of oxidative stress. According to studies, vitamin E, a tissue-specific antioxidant, may also support macular health.

Acerola Fruit Extract (25% Vitamin C) 120 mg
Acerola fruit are packed with a variety of nutrients and are one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C. We know the naturally occurring forms of vitamin C have a longer half-life than synthetic forms while also having improved bioavailability. By using the whole fruit of acerola, the potent antioxidant activity improves nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin because the fruit contains an abundance of other phytonutrients like carotenoids phenolics, anthocyanins and flavonoids. These compounds carry their own health benefits and support absorption of Vitamin C into the bloodstream and the liver.* Utilizing nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin for skin health and free radical protection is an essential part of beauty from the inside regardless of age.

Potassium (Bicarbonate) 100 mg
Potassium is an essential micromineral that helps to maintain a healthy electrolyte balance in the body. Potassium additionally contributes to the nutraMetrix Isotonix® advantage supporting healthy fluid balance and exchange.  In addition to supporting optimal nutrient transport in the nutraMetrix Isotonix line, allowing the Isotonix line to use food-based ingredients instead of solvents and binders, potassium also plays a role in a wide variety of biochemical and physiological processes.

Frequently Asked Questions*

What is Astaxanthin?
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid that gives the reddish pigment to some algae, salmon, crab, krill and lobster. nutraMetrix Isotonix® Astaxanthin uses a fully sustainable source of red pigmented algae.  Because it is from algae it allows the nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin to be suitable for a vegetarian or vegan diet. Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and it does not become a pro-oxidant. This means, even under tremendous oxidative stress, astaxanthin does not create free radicals from itself or its metabolism.  Other carotenoids like vitamin A, lycopene and zeaxanthin, on the other hand, may become free radicals when taken in supraphysiologic amounts.

Where is the astaxanthin in nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin sourced?
This product uses only AstaReal®† Astaxanthin, which is manufactured from carefully cultivated microalgae (Haematococcus pluvialis) in state-of-the-art facilities. In contrast to generic varieties, AstaReal® astaxanthin is unsurpassed for quality control and consistency in manufacture. AstaReal® astaxanthin is frequently selected for clinical research and testing in nutritional applications.  AstaReal® Astaxanthin has 14 patents over a span of several areas of health, making AstaReal® your only choice in quality astaxanthin.

Who should take nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin?
Due to the diversity of benefits, Astaxanthin is appropriate for any individuals looking for powerful antioxidant defense for their heart and eyes, as well as support for muscle endurance and performance, skin elasticity and gastrointestinal health.

What is the recommended serving of nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin?
The recommended serving for adults over the age of 18 is one serving per day, which provides 6mg of astaxanthin.

Is nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin suitable for use by both men and women?
Yes. Astaxanthin is beneficial for both men and women. Please read the product label for any product warnings.

Does nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin need to be taken on an empty stomach?
All nutraMetrix Isotonix products are formulated for efficient delivery of nutrients or components when taken as directed.  Because astaxanthin and vitamin e are fat soluble antioxidants, taking nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin with a meal is permissible and will not impact the effectiveness of the ingredients.

Which products are best combined with nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin?
nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin has multiple benefits and can be combined with products such as nutraMetrix Isotonix Resveratrol for those looking for increased cardiovascular support, nutraMetrix Isotonix Vision Formula for those looking for healthy vision, nutraMetrix Isotonix Coenzyme Q10 for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels and nutraMetrix Isotonix OPC-3® for maximum antioxidant protection.

Why did we choose to combine 3 powerful antioxidants in the nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin formula?
We paired these 3 antioxidants specifically because they work in synergy, protecting both sides of the cell membrane—TWO being fat soluble and the other being water soluble.  Additionally, these three ingredients enhance the power of their partners.  Individually, each ingredient has its own strength, yet together the three can quench a varied number of free radical types while effectively recycling one another for maximum protection.

What is the significance of nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin being cold water-soluble?
Unlike many competitors, nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin is cold water-soluble and in a powdered form.  Not only is cold water-soluble astaxanthin a temperature-controlled extraction, the cold-water soluble powder offers a higher concentration of astaxanthin by weight while also dispersing well water without clumping or sticking, making it ideal for on the go activities or travel.  In addition, the cold water-soluble AstaReal® Astaxanthin is a free-flowing powder, allowing for enhanced delivery in a pure vegetable formula.

What differentiates nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin from Prime Astaxanthin?
nutraMetrix Isotonix Astaxanthin is a vegan and gluten free formula that features 3 powerful antioxidants that work in synergy to protect both sides of the cell membrane—two being fat soluble and the other being water soluble. Isotonix® Astaxanthin provides you with efficient absorption of the nutrients within the product. Isotonix® Astaxanthin can be taken with your daily Isotonix® while you can take Prime Astaxanthin later if you want the benefits of 12 mg of pure AstaReal® Astaxanthin. *

Game changer

Some of my patients have a hard time swallowing pills and now there is a isotonix supplement that my patients can drink with water versus swallowing a pill. I just love being able to give my patients options. Having a supplement that protects the skeletal muscles from oxidative stress by physical activity is vital for meeting my patient outcome goals.
